aadhaar: Do not share the Aadhaar photocopy with any organization: UIDAI

NEW DELHI: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), in its notice, warned people not to share photocopies of Aadhaar with organizations citing its misuse.
“Please avoid using a public computer in an internet cafe/kiosk to download e-Aadhaar. However, if you do, make sure to permanently delete all downloaded copies of e-Aadhaar from that computer,” the report says. communicated.
“Only organizations that have obtained a license to use the UIDAI can use Aadhaar to establish a person’s identity. Unlicensed private entities like hotels or movie theaters are not allowed to collect or retaining copies of the Aadhaar card This is an offense under the Aadhaar Act 2016. If a private entity asks to see the Aadhaar card or requests a photocopy of the Aadhaar card, please check that they have a license of valid use of the UIDAI,” he added.

However, the authority has suggested the use of masked Aadhaar which only displays the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar number which can be downloaded from UIDAI official website https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in .
The existence of any Aadhaar number can be verified at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar. To check offline, you can scan the QR code on the eAadhaar or Aadhaar letter or the Aadhaar PVC card using a QR code scanner in the mAadhaar mobile app, UIDAI informed.
