African Energy Week 2021 Welcomes Secretary General of African Organization of Petroleum Producers (APPO) as Keynote Speaker



The African Energy Chamber (AEC) ( is proud to announce the confirmation of Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General of the African Organization of Petroleum Producers (APPO) as a keynote speaker at the very first African Energy Week (AEW) 2021. Representing one of the continent’s most esteemed energy organizations and one of the world’s most influential industry leaders, Dr. Ibrahim’s participation in AEW is very meaningful.

AEW 2021 features the very first African Energy Village, a revolutionary event concept in which the use of multiple venues and platforms enables a diverse event format. The concept of the Energy Village lends itself to the topic of networking as opposed to what can be found in a rigid conference program, and therefore, the participation of APPO, whose mission is to promote cooperation in the field of hydrocarbons of its member countries and other world institutions to promote collaboration and fruitful partnerships is far-reaching.

APPO sees oil as a catalyst for energy security, sustainable development and economic diversification. With key topics to AEW 2021, including the eradication of poverty by 2030; the future of the African oil and gas industry; African opportunities upstream, mid-term and downstream; and the role of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF), the International Energy Agency (IEC), the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (AIG) and the American Petroleum Institute (API), APPOthe participation of not only will promote AEW the 2021 agenda, but ensure the success of the event.

The event will use multiple conference venues and facilities to present delegates with a COVID-19 compliant, yet productive energy event focused on Africa.
