Intensified inspections due to price control over prescribed margins – Sarajevo Times
In order to protect the interests of consumers in the Canton of Sarajevo, cantonal market and tourism inspectors carry out intensified controls of market prices, in accordance with the decisions of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Canton of Sarajevo on measures price controls against prescribed margins for certain basic foodstuffs and other products, as well as for oils and petroleum products.
“These checks are carried out continuously, but in view of the current market situation and increasing reports from citizens, in the coming period, inspectors will pay special attention to controlling the high retail prices of items found in the sale, or if the high retail price is the calculated retail price of the same items, and if the product that is on sale is clearly and visibly marked (before and after the discount).
Maximum wholesale margin
According to the report of the Market Inspectorate and Tourism Inspectorate, about 500 inspections were carried out in relation to price control last year, and due to irregularities and illegalities identified, about 300 orders of offenses were issued for a total amount of 150,000 BAM. (KUIP).
They recall that legal and natural persons are required to determine and apply margins so that they do not exceed the margins of these products in percentage on 31.12.2020.
“This obligation applies to wheat flour and to all types of bread made from wheat flour, milk and liquid yoghurt 2.8% mm, fresh eggs, white granulated sugar, salt for food, rice, pasta, margarine and vegetable fat, all types of fresh meat and fish, canned meat, canned fish, edible sunflower oil, infant formula and post-breastfeeding formula , disposable diapers for children and adults, powdered laundry detergent, liquid dishwashing detergent and soap.
In addition, companies engaged in the wholesale trade of petroleum products are prescribed a maximum wholesale margin of an absolute amount of 0.06 BAM per liter of derivatives, and companies engaged in the retail trade of petroleum products are are prescribed a maximum retail margin in absolute terms. at 0.25 BAM per liter of derivatives – according to KUIP.
Identify irregularities and illegalities
KUIP calls on all supervised entities, especially large shopping malls, to strictly comply with the Internal Trade Law, Consumer Protection Law, Price Control Law, as well as the aforementioned rulings. , given that any irregularity and illegality identified will be acted exclusively and repressively through the issuance of arrest warrants.
They also urged CS citizens to report all possible discrepancies and price changes to the competent inspection of the Cantonal Administration of CS Inspection Affairs.
In the event of non-compliance with the adopted measures, the law on price control provides for a fine for legal persons in the amount of BAM 1,000 to 10,000, for a responsible person in a legal person from BAM 250 to 2 500 BAM and from 500 to 1,500 BAM for a natural person – concluded in a declaration.
