Organization helps central Ohio veterans look and feel great with free wetsuits

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – It’s a simple act of kindness that goes a long way for many veterans in central Ohio.

This weekend, HEROES Care, an organization that helps the military, distributed shirts, suits, ties, shoes and other clothing to many who have served the United States as a thank you for everything. what they did. done and hopefully help them land their next job.

Army veteran Noah Bealieu said he was shocked at how many HEROES Care items were available.

“They have stuff like that in place when you’re in the military,” Bealieu said. “You roll your eyes like, you’re going to go there, it’s going to be like 12 costumes and 13 guys.”

Bealieu is grateful that other men can take advantage of this opportunity, especially those who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In my opinion, you need a suit to get a worthwhile job,” he said. “Costumes, they can get expensive.”

Bealieu said the costume not only helps financially, but looking good can equate to feeling good and giving a veteran’s sanity a boost.

“We have a higher rate of mental health issues,” he said. “Definitely a higher suicide rate. Having a job really fulfills a basic psychological need that needs to be met in one way or another.

Organizers said HEROES Care has a shorter turnaround time this year and will continue to distribute the clothing to veterans.
