WEST LOOP — The West Central Association has hired the former top executive of another West Loop delegated agency to spearhead its business development.

Carla Agostinelli, who served as executive director of the West Loop Community Organization for seven years, will serve as director of community development and partnerships for the West Central Association, officials announced. This is a new role for the chamber of commerce.

Agostinelli will lead fundraising, event planning, sponsorships, marketing and communications, according to a press release. Rod Burch, former executive director of the West Central Association, remains at the helm of the organization alongside Agostinelli as chief operating officer.

“Leading the WCA presents me with a tremendous opportunity to further support business and advance entrepreneurship and economic development, leveraging the continued success of West Loop and Fulton Market District to support further growth there and in many nearby communities,” Agostinelli said.

Agostinelli was hired as executive director of the West Loop Community Organization in 2014 and left the post in January of this year, she confirmed. During her tenure, she served the City of Chicago Recovery Task Force, helped manage Fulton Market’s cityscape redesign, helped organize Taste of Randolph and the Fulton Market Expo, and directed hundreds of community meetings.

Prior to working in the West Loop, Agostinelli was director of economic development at the North River Commission and director of the North River Commission’s affiliate agency, the Albany Park Chamber of Commerce.

“We are enthusiastic about the experience and skills [Agostinelli] brings to this role, including his ability to cultivate critical relationships as we seek to provide additional resources to our member companies and create opportunities for economic growth across our service area and even further afield. west and south,” said Armando Chacon, president of the West Central Association.
