Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated – the JTAC
The future looks bright for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
There are many traditions that are valued at Tarleton State University, one being Greek life. Greek life is made up of fraternities and sororities that share a bond of brotherhood and sisterhood. Membership has many benefits, but none compare to the bond you create with your new family of siblings.
Here on campus, African-American students have the choice of joining a sorority or an all-black fraternity. These organizations are called Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and Fraternity Phi Beta Sigma Inc.
The Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Inc. on the Tarleton campus is known as the Sigma Omicron chapter. This sorority is called the “Gentle Women of Sigma Omicron. Like any Greek organization, they have membership and active membership qualifications that members must meet.
Members must be undergraduates here at Tarleton State University and meet all International Headquarters specifications. Once this step has been taken, they are considered one of the “candies” and must now follow the active membership regulations. Each member must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, participate in a minimum of two Sigma Omicron service projects, one sorority event, and all chapter meetings. Members must also submit appropriate notification to the Basileus when they are unavailable to attend a Sigma Omicron meeting or event. Reach the financial situation at all levels during the first chapter meeting of the semester. Meet Tarleton State University’s Greek Life study hour requirements. Participate in all fundraising events. Additionally, submit an unofficial transcript/progress report at each chapter meeting to the advisor.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. is not only an award-winning chapter, but it is the only national Pan-Hellenic sorority here at Tarleton State University. President Michaela Dennis has worked tirelessly to promote the Chapter Sigma Omicron.
The goal for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. is to make a positive impact in the community through their actions in support of scholarship, fellowship, service, and a more refined womanhood.
The Sigma sisters Omicron chapter plan to be more successful in raising awareness of their community and services.
